If you enjoy the outdoor life there's plenty to do in Thornham itself. Stroll out to the harbour amid the creeks of Brancaster bay where there are still working boats and leisure craft moored by the old coal barn. This peaceful harbour was once a smugglers' haven.

Walk along the bank to the sound of soaring skylarks then turn towards the sea. Little-known Thornham beach is one of the finest in the UK with miles of perfect sand and dunes for picnicking and sunbathing.

A few minutes' drive to the west is the traditional seaside resort of Hunstanton with its famous striped cliffs and promenade, funfair and amusements. Hunstanton is one of the UK's top windsurfing venues. The Princess Theatre provides a good mixture of shows and music events.

To the east, our neighbouring village is Titchwell, home of the well-known RSPB bird reserve to which visitors are welcome.

Further eastwards you will find Brancaster where there is an excellent golf course and beach and Brancaster Staithe, a busy sailing centre.

Further along the coast road, Wells-next-the-sea is well worth a visit. This small historic fishing town has much to offer for all ages. A fine beach and pinewoods, miniature railway and busy quay, charming cottages and interesting shops, Wells is an unspoilt gem.

Golf

The Orange Tree is the perfect base for a super golfing weekend with two of England's finest Links Golf Courses very close at hand. A ten-minute drive to the west takes you to the course of Old Hunstanton with its excellent fast greens. Just a couple of miles to the east in Brancaster is The Royal Norfolk Golf Club that ‘presents true links golf as it was originally meant to be played’ (UK Golf Guide). A little further along the coast are excellent courses at Sheringham and Cromer.
